How to use adapt-a-walker?

  1. Place the walker near (right angle) the patient where the person Is sitting, for an easier transfer
  2. Lock the rear caster brakes, lift, open the front gate and remove the safety strap (strap will be used between the patient’s Legs)
  3. Assist the patient onto the walker
  4. Secure the front gate (use the safety blackstrap), blackstrap will prevent the front gate from opening
  5. Place the safety strap in place (between the patient's legs)
  6. Allow the residents to orientate for a few minutes
  7. Discuss the walker to the patient (allowing them to become Orientated)
  8. Release the locking rear brakes and gently assist the resident to a standing position
  9. Assist the patient with their initial steps
  10. Have the resident take some steps, then allow him/her to take a brake period (rest)
  11. Then start again
